1. For how long may books be checked out?

New books check out for two weeks. All other books and audiobooks check out for three weeks. DVDs and videos check out for one week with no renewals. Book renewals are possible by phone or website, or in person. Items currently checked out that have a hold request may not be renewed.

2. Do you have personal computers for the public to use?

Patrons have 2 hours of computer access a day. PCs may be used for Internet searching as well as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other applications. There is no fee for using a PC.

3. What time does the library close? Is the library open on weekends?

The Mocksville library hours are from 9:00 am to 8:30 pm, Monday through Thursday, and 9:00 am to 5:30 pm on Friday. We are open on Saturday from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm, and on Sundays from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm.

The Cooleemee branch is open Monday-Friday from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm, and is closed every day from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm for lunch. The Cooleemee branch is not open on weekends.

4. Can I fax something from the library?

Patrons can fax from either the Mocksville or Cooleemee library. The cost is $1.50 for the first page and .50 cents for every page after that. 

5. Can I make color copies at the library?

The Mocksville and Cooleemee library both offer color printing at .25 cents a page. 

6. Does the library have legal forms that I can use?

Library staff can not give legal advice. The library collection includes business and personal legal information and forms in the North Carolina circulating collection, the General circulating collection, and the Reference collection. Most of these resources have call numbers in the 346's; however, please ask a librarian to help you find what you need.

7. Does the Library have free Wi-Fi?

Yes! The library has free high-speed Wi-Fi at both the Mocksville Library and the Cooleemmee Branch Library. Please select the network Davie-Guest – DCPL and agree to the terms of use through an internet browser.

8. Can I print from home or from my phone to the library?

You sure can! The library has Wi-Fi printing that can be acceded from anywhere that has an internet connection. Simply go to https://www.printeron.net/dcpl/ml

9. How can I find out if a book is available?

A patron can visit the library’s online catalog at https://www.davie.nccardinal.org/ . Don’t forget that the Davie County Public Library is a part of the NC Cardinal Consortium, and patrons can request materials from over 30 different library systems if the item is checked out or if DCPL does not own the item.

10. I want to volunteer for the library – how do I go about getting signed up?

For adults interested in volunteering with the library, either stop by the library for an application or go to the website under About Us > Support the Library > Volunteers and download an Adult Volunteer Application. Please bring a completed application to the circulation desk at the Mocksville Library. 

If you are a teen interested in volunteering, the Youth Services Department has the Teen Team Volunteer program. Stop by the library for an application or go on the website under Kids and Teens > Volunteer Opportunities.

11. Do you have anyone who works in the Local History Room?

Although the library does not have an official staff person in the Martin-Wall History Room, the library is fortunate to have extremely knowledgeable volunteers on Monday, Tuesday, and Friday. Barbara Harvel, the DCPL’s Friday volunteer, specializes in family genealogy research and is here from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
