In the coming weeks NCDOT will be adding a roundabout at US 158 and Farmington Road. Due to this planned construction, portions of US 158 east and westbound will be closed beginning Tuesday, July 9th between 9:00 AM and 10:00 AM, and the estimated re-opening is August 2, 2024. This closure will last approximately 3-4 weeks, in which time the intersection of US 158 and Farmington Road will be completely closed to all through traffic. Travel along l Interstate 40 to and from the Health and Human Services Building using the Farmington Road exit, will remain open, as will be travel from Highway 801 to Farmington Road. Any travel from Highway 158 from either direction, Farmington Road from the Government Center to the intersection (left from the parking lot) will not be accessible during this time.
US 158: Eastbound Detour Information:
From Eastbound US-158, turn left onto Main Church Road/SR 1405. From Main Church Road, turn right onto US-601. From US 601, take a right onto NC-801, which will lead you back to US-158.
US 158: Westbound Detour Information:
From Westbound US-158, turn right onto Pinebrook School Road/SR 1436. From there, continue by turning left onto Pinebrook Drive/SR 1437. At the end of SR 1437, turn left onto Farmington Road/SR 1410, and then turn right to get onto I-40. Exit I-40 to get onto US 601, which will lead to US 158.
