Property Fraud Alert Notification System
The Property Fraud Alert Notification System is a new service being offered to the citizens of Davie County for free! Should you choose to take part, each time a document is recorded in your name here in the Register of Deeds Office, you will receive a notification email identifying the recording. This keeps you informed of all real estate transactions taking place in your name....those you expect and those you don't!
HOW IT WORKS!
Should you choose to take advantage of the free Property Fraud Alert Notification System, simply sign up here by telling us your full name and email address. Then, each time a document is recorded in our office in your name, you will receive an email alerting you to the recording. The email will list the time and date of the recording, the instrument number, and the book and page number. To view the document, you can then go to www.daviencrod.org where you can input the information to see the image of the recorded document. This will allow you to see if the document was a legitimate recording or a fraudulent one.
AFTER RECEIVING NOTIFICATION....WHAT THEN?
If you determine the recording is something you expected and is a legitimate recording, you need do nothing else. However, if you determine the recording is fraudulent and was not authorized or signed by you, you can simply call our office at (336) 753-6080 and our office will help you get in touch with the proper authorities so that you can investigate the recording further and take legal action if necessary.
Please note that this free Property Fraud Alert Notification System does not authorize the Register of Deeds or her staff to remove, revise, or redact the document if it has been properly recorded. It is simply to make you aware that a document has been recorded in your name.
