Register of Deeds

Due to the coronavirus, we are taking precautionary measures by limiting public access inside the Administration Office to appointments only.

The Register of Deeds Office will offer recording of documents via e-file, mail, and through a drop-box method. Vital record requests will be processed via mail and drop-box. Please call the office to schedule notary oaths and to discuss possible options for obtaining a marriage license.

The primary responsibility of the Register of Deeds is recording, indexing and preservation of instruments dealing with real property, such as deeds, deeds of trust and powers of attorney.

The Register of Deeds also houses and maintains copies of births, deaths, marriages and military discharges that are available for public review. The office also provides certified copies of the vital records indicated to the parties who may obtain these records.

The Register of Deeds also issues the oath and maintains a listing of all notaries public who reside in Davie County.

Our mission is to provide exemplary service to the citizens, legal professionals, and other office users, always mindful that we are public servants.
