The new Davie County Government Center at 154 Government Center Drive now has a Pharmaceutical Drop-box, a safe place to dispose of unwanted medications. Use the main entrance and an administrator at the front desk will direct you.
In 1999, there were 3,442 drug overdose deaths involving prescription opioids. In 2019, that number rose to 14,139. Additionally, almost every minute of every day there is a call to a poison control center because a young child got into medicine. Having less medication around the house is an easy step we can take to make the home a safer place.
The Government Center is open Monday - Friday from 8:30 am - 5 pm, the drop-box can be utilized during this time. Over-the-counter medications, prescription medications, prescription patches, prescription ointments, and vitamins, can be disposed of in the drop-box. Liquid medications and sharps/syringes CANNOT be accepted. Medications are destroyed by incineration.
