Frequently Asked Questions
Why is recycling service changing?
Due to changes in the value of recyclables in global markets, recycling service has to change. Additionally, contamination (non-recyclable material) has increased, and a new model is needed to make recycling sustainable in the future.
Who does this affect?
For residents in Mocksville, Bermuda Run and Cooleemee, your service remains unchanged, and rates have been negotiated by the towns.
For residents with curbside recycling only, the Republic Services® recycling cart will be recovered unless you sign up for curbside recycling and waste service by July 1, 2021. If you sign up before June 15, 2021, you will receive one month free (a $22.68 value).
For residents who receive an invoice from Republic Services directly for recycling and waste services, your service will not change, but effective July 1, 2021, the quarterly rate for service will be adjusted to $68.04 per quarter.
Service days may change around October 1, when re-routing is completed. Residents will be notified if a service day change will occur.
