Text Message Scam Targeting Food and Nutrition Services (FNS) Recipients
It has been brought to our attention that some FNS recipients are receiving text messages on their phone that states, “your FNS case is about to close and to click on a link to keep it open”. The text may also state, “you were chosen to receive food stamps or SNAP”. This is a “SCAM” in order to obtain the FNS recipients’ personal information. Recipients should not reply to the text, delete the text right away.
As a reminder FNS recipients, should never share social security numbers, bank information, or FNS electronic benefits transfer (EBT) card or PIN number with individuals or organizations that they do not know. If they are not sure about a suspicious request for FNS information they need to contact their local agency.
