TAX AIDE


Fridays & Saturdays - Feb. 2 - April 7 (No Tax Aide on March 17, 30 or 31)

BLACK HISTORY MONTH CELEBRATION

February is Black History Month & Senior Services is pleased to join once again with Graham Funeral Home to celebrate.  This event is always filled with great music.  Speaker this year will be John Palmer.  Lunch will be served at 11:30 for those who wish to stay.  Open to all ages.  RSVP to 336-753-6230.

CORNHOLE LEAGUE


Wednesdays, Feb. 21 - March 21 (no meeting on March 7) - 1:00pm - Recreation Dept. gym
Show off your cornhole skills and have some fun.  Players will be assigned partners the first week and teams will play each week.  The final week will be a playoff to crown the champion.  Open to adults 55 and older.  RSVP to 336-753-6230.

PAINTING CRAFT

For this quarter's craft we will learn to pain a simple landscape on an 8 x 10 canvas board.  An example is on display at Senior Services.  Open to those 55 and older.  RSVP to 336-753-6230.

MOVIE DAY WITH THE GRANDKIDS (OR NOT!)

CROP TIL YOU DROP

Attention all scrappers! LINE DANCE WORKSHOP

Cost: $5.00
Once a quarter we will bring in a professional line dancing instructor to enhance the skills taught each week by our volunteer instructors.  This class is open to anyone - beginner or experienced line dancer.  You do not need to be a participant of a current line dancing class in order to attend.  Open to adults 55 and older.  RSVP to 336-753-6230.

BE PREPARED IN CASE OF A DISASTER

MARCH FOR MEALS EVENT

ALZHEIMER'S SUPPORT GROUP


Tuesday, March 13 @ 5:30pm
This groups meets the 2nd Tuesday of each month and is open to adults of any age.  It is intended for those caring for a loved one with Alzheimer's or other dementia but is open to any caregiver that can benefit.  Meetings may consist of sharing time and/or guest speakers.  RSVP to 336-753-6230.

WATER AEROBICS CLASS


Tuesdays & Thursdays - March 13 - April 19 - 2:30 - 3:30 - YMCA
Cost $20.00
We are excited to offer Water Aerobics at the Davie Family YMCA.  Classes meet for 6 weeks and are led by a YMCA certified instructor.  Senior Services will pay the remainder of the cost of this class.  You will pay the YMCA directly for your portion of the cost.  You must pre-register with Senior Services, not the YMCA.  Open to adults 55 and older who are not YMCA members.  

HOMEBOUND MEAL VOLUNTEER TRAINING

This training is for those who are interested in volunteering to deliver homebound meals.  RSVP to 336-753-6230.

WELCOME TO MEDICARE


Friday, March 16 - 10:00am - 12:00noon
If you will be eligible for Medicare soon, learn about the many options available so you can make the choices that are right for you.  This program will explore the basics of Medicare, including Parts A & B, supplements, prescription drug plans, Advantage plans, as well as assistance programs to help pay for some of Medicare-related costs.  This program is open to anyone who will soon be on Medicare.  A light meal will be served after the program.

MONTHLY MOVIE

SENIOR BOOK CLUB

At each meeting you will discuss the book that was read the month before and receive the new book to read. Books are provided at no charge. Co-sponsored by the Davie County Public Library. Open to those 55 and older. RSVP to 336-753-6230.

ROCK-A-THON


Friday, March 23 - 5:00 - 8:00pm - Rescue House Church
Come out for an evening filled with fun and music with a great beach theme.  Featured entertainment will be the band "Branded" with a mix of beach music, old rock and classic country.  The Boogie Brigade line dancers will perform and we will also have Bingo.  Throughout the event will be face painting, a photo booth, cornhole and a sand table.  Bring the whole family for an evening of fun.  All events are free.  Food will be available for purchase from Hot Diggity Dogs' food cart.

MEET THE CANDIDATES


Tuesday, March 27 @ 5:30pm
Be sure to vote in the primary on May 8.  Before you do, however, attend this event.  Local candidates will be invited to attend as soon as filing period ends.  There will be time for each candidate to speak, and a time for the audience to ask questions of hem.  Light refreshments will be served at 5:00 and the forum will begin promptly at 5:30.  Open to all ages.
